Management at the Valencia Town Center asked us to do something to activate the indoor patio area of the old Red Robin location. They needed it done in a week. One thing that is very important to us is that the work is organic conceptually -- that is that it makes sense and “fits” if you will with the space that it inhabits. After a couple of days of tossing around ideas, Moire hit on this one – an examination of the food we eat and the journey it takes to arrive on our plate. I think she proposed the idea to us on Monday and – with help from some tables borrowed from the Hyatt – we installed it on Wednesday! We got a terrific response to it on FB and from passersbys in the mall and we understand the mall also got some great feedback. The title, Specimens #1: café is indicative of the fact that we intend this to be the first in a series of different “specimens” installations.
